A Memorial Day Remembrance

While Memorial Day 2022 is past, we didn’t want to move on without this remembrance.

Memorial Day holds a particular significance to us at TruView. As a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned business, where almost 20% of our workforce are veterans, the acknowledgement of those that have made the ultimate sacrifice is something that is held high. It guides our values and serves as a constant reminder to be grateful for all that we have and all those we hold dear to our hearts. We remember those who sacrificed, not just once a year on the prescribed holiday.

While it fills us at TruView with gratitude, we also approach Memorial Day as a celebration of life. Not just for the lives of those gone before us, but for the life this country affords us to live in. A life that their sacrifice helps to ensure. We reflect on the freedoms fought and paid for, and we are grateful.

For all our difficulties and imperfections—we are human—America is still the land of aspirations and promise, a beacon of freedom. The Soldier, Sailor, Airman, and Marine have been indispensable in securing that dream—the American Dream. Those who have done so with their lives are in our hearts on Memorial Day and throughout the year.

The festivities, the barbecues, and fun with families and friends over the long weekend are good for our souls. Those we commemorate would want us to enjoy ourselves and engage in the freedoms they fought and died for. Memorial Day as a day of remembrance and solemnity can coexist with celebration.

So for this and every Memorial Day Weekend, we say: Enjoy that second helping of potato salad. Have another burger. Crank the radio and jump in the pool. Live, laugh, and love. It’s what our fallen Service Members would do if they were still with us. Honor them through celebrating all that is good and great and free in our great country.

We will honor their memory by living the best lives that we can. God Bless America.
