We are proud to announce that on May 17, 2022, Nicholas Auletta, President of TruView BSI, LLC, received the New York Small Business Champion of the Year Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s New York District Office. The award is given by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of National Small Business Week, through which the SBA highlights the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and community members from all 50 states and U.S. territories. The Veterans Small Business Champion of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has experienced the rewards and difficulties of running their own business and has fulfilled a commitment to the advancement of small business opportunities for veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Based in Hicksville, New York, TruView is a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. President Nick Auletta is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and a former U.S. Army Captain and two-time Bronze Star awardee, having spent over 44 months and three tours of active duty deployed in the Iraq combat zone. Auletta used both his military and formidable private sector business experience to establish TruView as the leading background screening and investigative services firm in New York State, providing customized, responsive services to government agencies, private businesses, municipalities, educational institutions, and regulated industries.
Through Nick’s vision and leadership, TruView has increased its national and international service reach while increasing its service capabilities for its partners. And the company has grown. In the past five years, the company has tripled its portfolio of contracted clients, tripled its revenues, and doubled its staff—20% of which are veteran employees. TruView opened offices in Florida and New Jersey to manage government contract work in those states, and we have increased square footage in our New York headquarters location. At the same time, TruView expanded its geographical footprint by hiring personnel in Florida, Texas, Connecticut, Georgia, New York, California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Further, in 2020 TruView stood up our Due Diligence division, which focuses on in-depth, complex investigations supporting business operations.
Nick is an advocate for veterans’ issues and holds lifetime memberships with several military associations, to include the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America; National Infantry Association; U.S. Army Ranger Association and the 1st Cavalry Division Association. He serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Long Island to support veteran education, income, and health in the local community. He is a member of the Salute Committee of United Veterans Beacon House and has dedicated company donations to combat veteran homelessness. Nick donates his time as an appointed, unpaid member of the New York State Security Guard Advisory Council. He formerly served as a leadership coach for the Heroes to Heroes Foundation and as Long Island Chapter President of Team Red, White, and Blue. Nick is a board member and teammate of the Long Island Warriors Hockey Program, a form of therapy for disabled veterans. With six children, Nick actively coaches five local youth sports teams and supports local school and church events.
Nick’s successful business experience includes over 13 years in strategic leadership positions. In addition to the Small Business Champion of the Year Award, Auletta and TruView BSI were previously recognized by an SBA resource partner for exemplifying how veteran and small business entrepreneurs can make a positive impact on the state’s economy. In 2018, Nick was awarded Veteran Entrepreneur of the Year by the Farmingdale Small Business Development Center, and in 2019, he graduated from the Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders program for CEOs of established businesses that are job creators in their communities. He is a graduate of the Class of 2018 of the Energeia Partnership at the Academy for Regional Stewardship, a leadership academy dedicated to identifying and addressing complex issues challenging the Long Island region.
Nick’s nomination submission for this honor stated, in part:
“TruView President Nick Auletta has built a company that he and his employees can be proud of—a thriving, values-based company that gives to the community and has a bright future. An expert in the security, investigative, and background screening field, Nick saw in TruView the opportunity to fill a space that needed his vision: In an industry that was becoming more dependent on remote technology and automation, TruView would be a firm ‘Born of Tradition. Enabled by Technology. Powered by People.’ In that vision, trust in the power of human analysis and unfailing client responsiveness would be the difference makers. With Nick, TruView embodies the spirit of ‘Rangers Lead the Way.’ The TruView Team understands that “the greatest untapped source of motivation is a sense of service to others,” and this is one of the guiding principles for the entire TruView Team. We work as a team to earn our clients’ trust every day and help keep them safer, more secure, and better informed. And no one has given more—or wants his people to excel more—than Nick. He has built a company that people love to be a part of, a place that develops character and leaders, a place that gives back to the community. TruView performs vital services to our clients and our communities, and we are all better for it. The employees of TruView BSI, LLC nominate Nick Auletta for this award, as he is eminently deserving of it.”
